Do you cover Addlestone and Ottershaw as well as Chertsey?

My Victorian terrace loses a slate or two every winter. Is that normal?

It is common, but it is a warning sign. Slates slide when the iron nails holding them have rusted through, and once that starts across a slope it will not stop. A few slates can be refixed with tail hooks; a roof that sheds them every year is usually ready for a strip and re-slate, reusing your sound slates where possible. We will tell you which you have.

Can you repair a chimney without scaffolding the whole house?

Often yes. Most chimney repointing, flaunching and capping work can be done from a chimney scaffold or tower on the roof rather than a full scaffold, which keeps the cost down. Rebuilding a stack from below the roofline needs more access, and we will say so in the quote.

Old Town Roofs and Family Homes in Chertsey

Chertsey is one of the oldest towns in Surrey, built around an abbey that is long gone and a stone bridge over the Thames that is still there. The centre shows its age in the best way: Georgian houses along Windsor Street, the church and the museum, and street after street of Victorian terraces and villas off Guildford Street and around the station. Most of those roofs are natural slate or plain clay tile, with brick chimneys, lead valleys and bay roofs that are all reaching the age where they need attention.

Beyond the centre the town spreads into inter-war semis, post-war estates and 1960s and 1970s houses towards Addlestone, Ottershaw and the M25, with a good number of bungalows near the river and St Ann's Hill.
