Roofline protection

The Boards That Guard Your Roof's Edge

Fascias and soffits do more work than most homeowners realise. The fascia carries the full weight of your gutters; the soffit seals the eaves against weather, birds and wasps while letting the loft breathe. When either fails, trouble follows fast. Our roofline service covers:

  • uPVC fascia boards that hold gutters firmly and never need painting
  • uPVC soffits, plain or vented, sealing the underside of the eaves
  • Rot replacement: decayed timber stripped back to sound structure before anything new goes on
  • Eaves ventilation designed in, so the loft stays condensation-free
  • Colour options: white, black, anthracite grey and woodgrain-effect finishes to match your home

We fitted new fascias as part of our recent full re-roof in Kingston upon Thames, so you can see this work on a real local job rather than a brochure. Free written quote first, company workmanship guarantee after, fully insured throughout.

Warning signs

Six Signs Your Roofline Has Had It

Roofline problems start small and quiet. By the time boards visibly sag, water has usually been at the timber for years. Check yours against these.

Flaking Paint & Soft Timber

Peeling paint on a timber fascia is the first hint. Press it: if the wood gives under your thumb, rot is already inside the board.

Gutters Pulling Away

Gutter brackets screw into the fascia. When the board softens, fixings loosen, runs drop out of level and water starts spilling over.

Birds & Wasps in the Eaves

Gaps in failing soffits are an open door. Nesting birds and wasps in the roof space almost always got in through a broken roofline.

Condensation in the Loft

Damp insulation, misted felt or mould on the rafters can mean the eaves are blocked or unvented and the roof space cannot breathe.

Drips Behind the Gutter

Water running down the wall behind the gutter, rather than into it, points to a decayed fascia top edge or a failed felt overhang.

Cracked or Bowing Soffits

Splits, holes or a wavy line along the underside of the eaves mean the boards have moved or decayed and the seal is gone.

FAQs

Fascia & Soffit Questions, Answered

The fascia is the vertical board that runs along the edge of the roof and carries the guttering. The soffit is the horizontal board tucked underneath it, closing the gap between the fascia and the wall. Together they seal the eaves, support the rainwater system and keep weather and pests out of the roof space.
Timber boards need repainting every few years and will eventually rot where water sits behind the gutter. uPVC does not rot, never needs painting and just needs an occasional wipe down. Once the old timber is off and uPVC is on, the roofline stops being a maintenance job.
We inspect first and tell you what the boards actually need. Where timber is rotten, covering it up just hides a problem that keeps spreading underneath, so our recommendation in that case is always to strip the decayed boards back and fit new. Your written quote will state exactly what is being removed and what is being installed, so there is no ambiguity.
Classic white is the most popular choice, and uPVC roofline products are also made in colours such as black, anthracite grey and woodgrain-effect finishes that suit period and modern homes alike. We will show you the options at the quote stage and help you pick a finish that works with your windows and brickwork.
They should improve it. The eaves are where most roofs breathe, and a roof space without airflow builds up condensation that dampens insulation and timbers. When we renew a roofline we make sure ventilation is designed in, using vented soffit boards or eaves vents appropriate to your roof, so the loft stays dry all year.
