Water that gets past your tiles does not drop straight down. It runs along the felt, follows a rafter or a batten and lands on the ceiling a metre or more from where it came in. That is why so many leaking roofs get "fixed" two or three times: someone replaced the tile above the stain, and the real entry point was further up the slope all along.

The signs you have one: a brown ring on a ceiling that grows after heavy rain, damp timber or daylight in the loft, wet patches on the loft insulation, or paint bubbling on a chimney breast.
Every leaking roof repair follows the same four steps, so you know exactly what you are paying for before we lift a tile.
We check the loft first, then the roof above it, following the water marks on the felt and timbers back to the point where it gets in.
You get photos of the actual fault, from the roof and from the loft, with a plain explanation of why it is leaking.
We repair the source: new lead, refixed tiles, a relined valley or a section of new felt. Not a tube of sealant.
We check the surrounding courses while we are up there, clear every scrap of debris and back the repair with our workmanship guarantee.
The quickest way to stop a leak for a month is a bead of mastic or a strip of self-adhesive flashing tape. It looks fine from the garden and it fails the first time the joint moves in a frost. We see the result every winter: a second leak in the same place, and a bigger bill because the water has been soaking the timbers in the meantime.
The materials we use are the ones that last as long as the roof around them. Flashings are renewed in proper lead, cut, dressed and wedged into the mortar joint. Slipped tiles go back on with new fixings and the right tile for your roof, not the nearest match in the van. Where the felt under a leak has perished, we cut back to sound felt and lap in a new section of breathable membrane, so any water that gets past the tiles is carried back out to the gutter.

Most leaking roofs need a repair, not a new roof. If the water is coming in at one flashing, a few tiles or a single valley and the felt around it is sound, a proper repair fixes it for years, and that is what we will tell you.
It is a different story when the leaks move around every winter, the felt has torn across several bays in the loft, or tiles are failing on more than one slope. At that point each repair buys months, not years, and we will show you the photos that prove it rather than talk you into anything. Read the signs a roof needs replacing to check yours first.

Access is the biggest variable: a repair we reach from a ladder or tower costs far less than one that needs scaffolding, and we never scaffold a job that does not need it.
